Breast Cancer Survivor: The Inspirational Journey of Tracey Kumer

Tracey Kumer

During the last couple of years, Tracey has taken on challenges, only to find new ones. I met here a few years ago, when she owned Las Vegas Wedding Concierge, a wedding planning service.

She’s smart, funny, loves to dance, and can talk up a storm :)

As much rhythm as she has on the dance floor, it’s not surprising she took up Zumba, the latest dance-exercise craze.

Like many people, Tracey was having weight challenges. The by-product of too-much-Tracey was high blood pressure, symptoms of Diabetes, and shortness of breath.

Finally, she decided it was time to reverse the situation. A beautiful woman was hiding inside her body, and it was time to make significant changes. She did all the right things, one day after the next.

And then one day, she felt a lump in her breast. Testing confirmed her the unspoken fear… the lump was malignant, and Tracey had a lot of research to do, in choosing a path back to wellness. In a very short space of time, she made the difficult choice to return to her native Canada, the support of her family, and a health care system that serves the entire population.

The irony is that shedding lots of weight enabled Tracey to identify the lump in her breast. She went through radiation, surgery, and continued her weight reduction activities, to boot.

Today, she is a breast cancer survivor, has no need for Diabetes medication, is a Certified Zumba Instructor, and will wear anyone out on the dance floor.

John Lennon wrote:

Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”

Tracey Kumer can attest to that. What’s striking is that when life was most challenging is that she made tough decisions, leaving uncertainty in the dust.

Being cancer-free is statement that is only made after several years of successful testing. I have no doubt that TK sees life’s greatest difficulties in the rear-view mirror.

Her journey is an inspirational one, to everyone that knows her. It is an honor to know you.

Much love, and ‘have a stylish day.’
